About Us
Since 1958 the community of Bayou Vista and all her Businesses have been protected by us here at the Bayou Vista Vol. Fire Department. Since this time the advancement in Firefighting has came a long way. We are talking from the olden days of the bucket brigades to the now modern Fire Engine. We are fully 100% Volunteer with 2 stations. Central Firehouse located on Hwy 182 and Saturn Firehouse located on Saturn Rd. Central Firehouse is equipped with a Front Line Engine, a 75' Ladder Truck, Heavy Rescue, and Reserve Engine. Saturn Station is Equipped with 1 Front Line Engine, Reserve Engine, and Service Unit.
Bayou Vista is located in St. Mary Parish in Southern Louisiana. And is 1.9 square miles long, of which 1.8 square miles is land and 0.15 square miles, or 7.52%, is water. We are bordered by the Town of Berwick to the East and the City of Patterson to the West. Bayou Vista is also located in the Atchafalaya Basin. We are boardered by waterways. Bayou Teche runs the length of Bayou Vista and the Atchafalaya River which is East of Bayou Vista Separating the Town of Berwick and the City of Morgan City.

How do I become a Member?
Becoming a member of the Bayou Vista Vol Fire Department is easy. Just show up to Central Station Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm and fill out an application. No training is needed. Once you have filled out the application it will be read at our Business Meeting on the 1st Monday of the Month. Once read you will be placed on a 90-Day probationary period during that time you will be shown everything that is needed.
You ask how old do I have to be to become an Active Member? Well you have to be 18 years old to be an active member of the Bayou Vista Fire Department. In addition we also have a Junior Firefighter Program. You have to be 14 years of age and a parent must join as well to be in the program.
What specialized training would I need? No immediate training or expierence is required.

Equipment
Engine 25 is located at Central Station on
Hwy 182 . Engine 25 is an E-One
Typhoon Custom Cab Attack Pumper. She
seats 5 Firefighters including Driver and
Officer, with 3 seats in the back for extra
Firefighters.
Ladder 58 is located at Central Station on
Hwy 182. Ladder 58 is a E-One Typhoon
Ladder Truck. The Ladder is 75 ft and is
Aluminum. She can carry a crew of 4
including Driver, Officer and 2 Firefighters.
Rescue 41 is located at Central Station off
of Hwy 182. Rescue 41 is an E-One
Rescue with a custom cab and command
center. This unit is a Heavy Rescue used
for all various types of Rescues. Obtained
from Eastern Pennsylvania 41 has seen
multiple runs including Motor Vehicle
