3rd Alarm Structure Fire Franklin 

 

 

 

On May 11th, 2015 Bayou Vista Fire Department was called into the City of Franklin for a working structure fire. Upon arrival of Franklin units Heavy Black Smoke and Heavy Fire was present from the rear of the structure. During intital attack fire found voids in the balloon frame construction Apartment Building and the fire vented through the roof. 

 

Fire Departments from Centerville, Franklin, Chitimacha, Baldwin, District 11 (Four Corners), Bayou Vista, Patterson, and Berwick were dispatched with 75 firefighters battling blaze. Fire was finally deemed out the next morning.

First night in the new Station

Members of the Bayou Vista Vol Fire Department have been awating the building of our new garage located on Highway 182. To the surprise of all of us we have moved into the new building and love the new look to our station.

Search and Rescue Training

Bayou Vista members participated in an active search and rescue drill during a Monday Night Drill. LSU Instructor Daniel Clemons of the Morgan City Fire Department Instructed the drill explaining different methods that can be used in this type of situation. 

 

Simulation was a victim trapped in a house fire, rapid deployment of resources and search teams and even pulled a firefighter in trouble scenario.

Wal-Mart Garden Center Grand Opening

Crews from Bayou Vista Vol Fire Department were on hand at the Bayou Vista Wal Mart for the Grand Opening of the New Improved Garden Center. Crews assisted Wal Mart Management with some decorating of thier own. With the use of Ladder 58 BVVFD crews were able to replace a weather stricken American Flag with a new one.  Crews spent half the day greeting guests and showing children and adults the fire trucks.
